How do you change stroke shape when using it with a mask path???

I am making a logo reveal by using a mask. I pressed generate stroke and am using 'paint on original' using the background colour to reveal my logo (two letters). It works perfectly except that the stroke has a round cap and doesn't look good when revealing the logo beneath it. How do i change this to a butt cap when it is not a pen tool stroke (shape) but a mask stroke?

Thankyou

Not possible. The traditional effects use a conventional "paint daub" approach, meaning they draw dots on top of dots to create the illusion of a line, so ultimately the end of the line ends up being a half circle. Only vector-based effects like shape layers can create a butt cap.

As far as I know, this is not possible.
