I also find this pop-up in front of everything that After Effects does very unpleasant and annoying, usually there are actions that take quite some time and are a perfect moment to do another task but After Effects just pops up and breaks the focus on whatever you are doing, if you are double hands writing, you have to get a hand on the mouse, click minimize and then go on. I have been searching for a fix on this but still no luck, I'm with you Silviud, thanks for posting this up! If anybody knows how to disable the pop-up please drop a line here 🙂

If you are talking about the Home Screen, the screen that says "Welcome to After Effects, Your Name" you can disable it in preferences (settings on newer macs).
PRefrences (or Settings) > Startup and Repair > Click off "Enable Home Screen"

Hey mate, nope it's not about the home screen, this happens whenever you are using After Effects and it finishes any task like saving, opening a project, finishing rendering, autosaving, if you for instance, hit save and then it take let's say 15 seconds to save, then you go to do something else (like google for a texture or anything) and not stare at the saving progress bar, when After Effects (on the background) finishes saving it pops in front of your web browser or anything you have in front and just gets in the middle without being called.

But now that you mention Mac, I don't know if this just happens on Windows (I'm on Windows) maybe it doesn't happen on Mac.

Hi everyone! I’m experiencing the same issue with Adobe After Effects, and I wanted to clarify that this problem also occurs on Mac. Does anyone know a solution to fix this? These pop-up situations are quite annoying.

Can you provide more info on the system you are using it on and when specificaly this happens. I couldn't recreate the problem when I tried on my Mac.

Hit save on a big project (one that takes a couple of seconds to save), before the loading bar is finished, move to another window / minimize after effects. When the program finishes saving it will auto-focus back on after effects again.
Same goes for rendering through the render queue when it finishes.

Hi! I’ve realized that this issue is responsible for about 90% of the stress of working in After Effects. It’s incredibly frustrating — when you want certain processes to run in the background (saving, opening a project), you naturally want to switch to other tasks in the browser, organize files in Explorer, etc. But the constant focus-stealing and popping to the foreground completely destroys concentration.
Is there any way we can figure out how to fix this? Maybe it’s possible to lower After Effects’ priority somehow (though I’m afraid that might affect its performance — which is already not great). The fact that the AE window keeps jumping in front of everything else is distracting, and it’s not how software should behave.
As far as I understand, there’s no proper solution for this yet. Is it possible for us to reach out to Adobe about it?

Hey Evgeni, as far as I know there's no fix yet for this behaviour, just an update for After Effects past week and this keeps happening, the only workaround to somewhat bypass this annoying thing it's (if you are on Windows 11) to make a new desktop just to run After Effects and switch to the other desktop for everything else, I know it's not ideal but at least you don't get After Effects popping up front everything at every moment
