Is there a way to group your frequently used Effects and Presets? Like put them in a separate category or folder for easier access so you don't have to scroll through all the Effects everytime.

My recommendation would be FX Console from Video Copilot. It's free, a huge time saver, and allows you to organize your most used effects, so they come up first on a list when there are other effects with the same name.

Effects are stored in:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 2022\Support Files\Plug-ins\Effects on Windows

Library/Applications/Adobe After Effects/Plug-ins on Mac

However, you cannot move them around or create separate folders for them. It won't show up in AE.

I'd highly recommend using the search bar for effects you need to find quickly.

And even better, use FX Console https://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2018/05/fx-console-updated-to-v1-0-3/

You can set keybinds/shortcuts to apply effects. Cmd/Ctrl + Space and click numbers 1-9.
