hi there,
so when I send my AE comp to AME to render in the BG, it sets the render up with the most previously used render settign from AME, instead of my render setting from AE. This is annoying and time wasting, so how do I get AME to just take the render settings (which I have diligently created) from AE?
ThanksLoveKBye

It should and it depends on how do you add to your AME render queue.
a) If you go to Composition>Add to AME queue... - it will use AMEs last used settings
b) But if you go to Composition>Add to Render Queue and then from Render Queue panel - Queue in AME button - it should take your AE export settings and apply them in AME
so if you use A - just use B, but if you use B and don't have your settings - let us know because there is some other issue.

heya, thanks for responding!
Unfortunately the solution you describe is the ONLY way I queue things in AME (I send everything to the RENDER QUEUE first, set a destination, then hit the QUEUE in AME button to offload it from AE so I can get rendering in BG while continuing to work - but it does not pass my settings through this method)
I believe this is not consistent though I feel like I've sometimes seen my settings pass through, but not often, so hoping folks may be able to shed some light on this

what render settings do not pass? the render settings that can pass are specified here:

so I read the document you posted and at the bottom it has this line
"Output Module settings, such as the format settings or color channel selection, do not transfer to Adobe Media Encoder."
M*********** if the format settings aren't carrying over, what even is the point?!?!!?!?!!?

Just in case anyone cares, and also to semi-address Roei's comment, the format in this particular case is a Quicktime Prores 4444 with Alpha (I'm rendering keyed intermediates, and before y'all lecture me on the shortcomings of PRORES 4444 as an intermediate format, I get it and still have enough quality to make this workflow worthwhile for this project. My other intermediate format choice would be PNG Sequences - 'Straight, RGBA' which I also use)

This has been an annoyance for me for years.
I work on an ongoing project that requires me to build about 100 items of content once a week. The output content is a combination of jpeg stills and H264 video files. The AE projects are built using a script that refers to external data, replacing text, images and audio files, then creating the relevant output items in the Render Queue automatically. After the script does it's stuff, I'm left with around 30 AE projects, each with numerous items in their Render Queues.
In the old days, when I could render H264 from the render queue, this was easy. I would simply combine all the project files into one giant file and hit render. A few hours later the job was done, all in one step. Quick and efficient.
No such luck any more. I can't render H264 from the Render Queue any more. I can't use "Send to AME" from the Render Queue, because it doesn't carry the format requirements over - the stills don't render as Jpegs etc etc.
The only solution I've found that doesn't require me manually re-queueing everything in AME is to render intermediate QT files from the Render Queue, and all the other jpegs etc. Then Drag all the intermediate renders to AME and re-encode as H264, with the associated file management afterward.
It's not a disaster, but a clear example of progress superseding really valuable functionality.

I can feel your pain, certainly as h.264 functionality has been removed from AE. (I personally used to use that to generate client proofs direct from AE - not ideal but great in a hurry)
one workaround has been to recreate the AE settings in AME manually and then just applying that setting manually to my queued items, but this is tedious and can be prone to errors if there's something unique about any particular AE comp

there is aftercodecs... it does offer a superior H.264 over AME'S H.264

you can also try watch folders... have you tried it?

Hello doctorsney,
I'd suggest that you create a post on our UserVoice platform and if it gets enough votes, the After Effects team might consider implementing it. Here is the link: After Effects: Hot (1311 ideas) – Adobe video & audio apps
