I'm unable to add or drag anything into my time line. I've tried with a brand new project: I created a new project, created 2 comps in that project and one solid layer. I then tried to drag and drop into my timeline but wasn't able to and I could see that the icon next to my curser was a circle with a line through it. I can't work with this issue. I'm dead in the water until there is a solution.
Also, this is not and issue with me trying to drag say comp 1 back into comp 1.

I've since found a workaround. This is related to the "After Effects warning: Could not rename the file" bug. This too plagued me for more that 4 hours yesterday.
The solution is to change your workspace. I found that on Creative Cow forums (why not here?) from 2017?! I changed from Window/Workspace/All Panels to Window/Workspace/Animation and it fixed the problem.

Thanks for sharing the workaround. It could be the corrupted preferences that are causing the issue. Try running After Effects in Safe Mode. If that helps, resetting the preferences should help.
Note: Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.
Thanks,
Nishu

Hi Nishu:
I actually did delete my preferences and that was no help at all. Right now I can us any workspace other than "All Panels". In All Panels I can't make any changes or open files. This seems like a bug since the All Panels workspace no longer functions even after I've deleted my preferences.

Have you installed any third-party plug-ins or scripts? Try running After Effects with the third-party plug-ins disabled and remove the scripts.
Also, let us know your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version).
We're here to help.
Thanks,
Nishu
