When I went to "get info" I exspected to see a checkbock for "open in Rosetta" but it isn't there. I am on a MacBook Air 2020 M1.

Yeah... there are amazing plugins that individuals have made that are so important to the workflow. They dont get big funding so its a one-and-done kinda plugin... bruh. whats the point if im never going to upgrade my premiere from now on.

That's a really good point. It's unfair both on the small plugin creators and small artists like us. I don't make enough from work I do using my Adobe subscription to cover upgrading the plugins. It's a show stopper and makes me question whether I should bother continuing paying the Adobe subscription, if I'm going to lose money this year on it.

Good points, arudz and dougi!
This is a thousands-of-dollars upgrade... and nevertheless some great plugins will just extinct.
Mr. Gerard, it's frankly hard to believe you haven't heard of any 3rd party plugins that are not ARM-compatible, for someone with your expertise.
...eg i can't use the Notch LC Codec anymore – an absolute industry standard codec. And Notch says it has better to do than working on supporting ARM.

It is ludacris that Adobe won't continue with Rosetta for 2024... it's not always possible to get updated versions of older plugins that might still be incredibly useful. Back saving as a solution is such an antiqued way of thinking – although I'm not surprised since AE feels like it hasn't had any decent upgrades in the last decade and yet eevery month they are raking in the cash with their subscription chaos. They should try LISTENING to their consumers every once in a while..

I just wanted to add my voice to the choir: it is way, way too early to disable Rosetta (if it's ever going to be appropriate at all). AE is still capable of running plugins from 10 years ago, from developers who may no longer update their software for any number of reasons. There are dozens of popular third-party plugins on aescripts that still do not support Apple Silicon.
Rosetta should be added back - but better yet, why not support x64 plugins in an Apple Silicon AE process, perhaps by having a lightweight Rosetta "render engine" running in the background that loads those plugins and is passed render calls from the main process [maybe via Dynamic Link]?
Yes, developers should update their plugins - but many don't. This is the reality. Some of us still need to run AE in compatibility mode and will for a long time.

Very well articulated Jonah. I couldn't agree more. It's not just community plugins either. For example, I have Red Giant plugins (Maxton) from a couple of years ago. At that stage you could buy them as a one off payment. It was always a bit of a hit because that was quite expensive. Now they insist on a subscription and I simply don't do enough graphics work to justify a regular payment to them. So Adobe are basically forcing me to go onto an expensive subscription or continue using an older version of After Effects.
