So I am at a loss here, I have no clue what to do with this program, every time I open it, It crashes after just being open for a few minutes, half the time not doing anything at all just sittign at the project window, when it does crash, all I have is simply regular video up. With Heat Distortion (I found out later I may need to reinstall this plugin so I removed it, crashes still) and Pixel Motion Blur, which I dont have that set to high, and its either crashing the program, or in worse cases, crashing the entire computer. Deleted Pixel Motion Blur, crashed still. then I realized I had Deep Glow on a comp, removed it, still crashed. I turned off Hardware Acceleration, still crashed, cleared all the caches, still crashed, I cant function in this program. Im currently on a RTX 4070 Ti Super, with the latest drivers, I shouldn't be having this many problems.

So I reverted NVIDIA Drivers back to 551.52 from February, these seem to be stable enoug hthat the crashing has stopped, I also ran memory tests in case I had faulty DIMMs, nothing wrong there, so Im strongly convinced its a GPU Driver error with the latest 555.33 Drivers from NVIDIA. Ive been stable for about 2 hours, no crashes except for the usual crash where i just have too much going on, thats normal.

What are the specs of your computer? Maybe it's too slow/low specced for After Effects?

Like never in my 16 years of being an artist, have I had this many problems with one program, After Effects seems to be broken at the most basic level. And I have no idea how to fix and I fear you guys dont know either.

Found a work around thru working in Premiere 2023, that seems to not crash on me, but it could be a codec conflict?

Sorry to hear about the crash. Can you create a new project, add some text and solid layers, and apply effects that crashed After Effects? It'll help us to understand if it's happening only while working with media. Here are a few steps you can try:

  1. Run After Effects in Safe Mode with the third-party plug-ins disabled and test.
  2. I've seen reports of the latest Nvidia drivers causing issues. Can you downgrade the GPU driver and see if that makes any difference?

If nothing helps, are there any error messages or crash reports? Let us know.

Thanks,

Nishu

I have tried a clean project, threw in the MP4s, added 1 single effect, Pixel Motion Blur, Crash. What would be the most stable driver to revert to?
