Hi,
I'm running into a weird problem. I've recorded a video on my iPhone which I have imported into AE. when I play on my mac or iphone it runs at normal speed (lasts around 10s), however, after importing it into my project inside AE the video plays much faster (lasts around 5s). I have other videos on my project and none has this problem.
I've checked the frame rate which should be ok.. My project uses standard HD settings at 29fps. Video is a mov file.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.
Regards.
iPhone footage is variable framerate. That's probably what's causing the issue. You need to convert the video to constant framerate using "Handbrake" or a similar application.

The question here is what is the fps the file is supposed to be running at. you can check this by opening the mov in quicktime and selecting Window > Show Movie Inspector. if the FPS there is different than what it says your mov is in After Effects you'll want to right click the footage in the project window and go to Interpret Footage > Main...
in there you can set your frame rate to a custom setting. make sure it matches the setting from quicktime.
If that doesn't fix it you can force it to be the right lenght in the timeline by exposing the "duration" column and entering the desired length of the clip

If you're going to use cdel phone video in Adobe applications, you need to get one of the couple-three apps that force iPhones to shoot at a fixed frame rate. I believe some will even allow you to shoot higher-quality video, too.

Thank you all! Was definitely the variable frame rate issue. Converting in Handbrake to constant frame rate solved the issue! Thanks!
