Light effect color question

For the Spot Light on a static pic of my cat, the light's color is blue which can slightly be seen in the background. Is there a way to manipulate the dark negative space around the light? Other Light types like Ambient or Parallel don't provide this option either.

Well, if that's what you want, you need to change your approach and do it in 2D. the good old Circle and Ellipse effects provide enough options to stack a faux light halo on top of previous effects just like of course this would free you up for pre-composing the layer in 2D, masking it or extracting the background e.g. with a Luma Key or channel effects and replace it entirely.
