Hi everyone,
I have updated my mid-215 Macbook Pro to Monterrey and AE v22.
The app crashes while launching with the following error:
Last log message was: <176216> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 11
Does anyone have any idea of why is this happening? I'm assuming the graphics card is too old to handle AE v22?
Pleass help
Cheers
Nor

After Effects is not yet compatible with Monterey. Simple as that.
If you jump on an OS upgrade before researching the potential conflicts without first mirroring your boot drive so you can quickly go back to the previous version of your OS you have only two options. The first is to wait for the software to be compatible with the new OS, and this can take weeks or even months, or, in the case of some 3rd party developers, never happen. The second is to re-install the OS to the previous version. This can easily take a full day. Because I depend on my system to make a living I always have a bootable clone of my system (boot) drive available so if I run into problems a couple of keystrokes on startup will have me running again.

Thanks Rick, I'm so glad you have it all figured it out!
Monterrey has been coming up for months now. One would have hoped that Adobe would have its apps ready for it!
Downgrading now to catalina!

Hi Nor Mira,
Sorry for your issue.
If you haven't downgraded to Catalina yet, you could try removing the third-party plug-ins and see if that helps.
Some of the plug-ins (not all) are stored in - HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plugins/7.0/MediaCore
Move all the files and folders to the desktop (except dummy.txt).
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Nishu

Hey!
I have a Problem with After Effects 😕
Since I updatet macOS Monterey to my Macbook Air M1 Chip (2020) AE doesn't work anymore.
It always crashes at the beginning. This is the message what I get: (Picture 1)
And the solution that you go to " HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plugins/7.0/MediaCore
Move all the files and folders to the desktop (except dummy.txt)" is not working, too. In Common isn't a Plugins Folder (Picture 2)
Please help! I need ae as fast as possible 😞

Sorry, we pay good money to Adobe - it's their responsibillity to ensure that their software works with the OS - they are developers, they will have had an extensive amount of development time with the new OS. No excuses. It shouldn't be up to the end user to have to engage in software R&D. There's no other industry where this attitude would be acceptable.

Hi Nor Mira,
move some thirdparty plugins from "HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plugins/7.0/MediaCore" to desktop and AE works again.

Hi Nor Mira,
Do you have AEJuice installed? If so, you may need to remove the AEJuice plug-in folder from the following location as well: Applications/Adobe After Effects 2022/Plug-ins/
Let us know the outcome.
Thanks,
Nishu

Thanks Nishu,
I have removed all the 3rd party plugins and scripts. I reninstalled v22 without keeping the preferences but it's still doing it. It gets stuck when is Initializing MediaCore.

Hi Nor,
Sorry for this. I am especially wary of using older hardware with newer operating systems. Are you running that Mac with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M or the AMD Radeon R9 M370X? macOS no longer provides drivers for NVIDIA, so that may be at the core of your issue. Let me know.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your comments. I do have the GT R9 M370X and I agree that it's old hardware and that I was too naive upgrading to Monterrey, especially at such early days. It did work with Big Sur with no issues whtatsover. I have a M1 Max on the way but not shipping till mid November.
Anyway, after trying everything I'm downgrading to Catalina now!
Thanks everyone for your help.
Cheers
Nor

I have the exact same issue with AE. It's frustrating how Adobe is not prepared to handle these updates for all of their products.

It is not possible while you have to work and have to close an important job to have these nasty surprises from Adobe. Now I would like to know how it is possible to solve?
