Hi,
If you're experiencing issues with the Motion Sketch feature in Adobe After Effects 2020, where it abruptly ends without capturing the full range of motion, there are a few things you can try to resolve the problem. Here are some potential solutions:
1.Increase the Capture Duration: By default, the Capture Duration in the Motion Sketch panel may be set too short, resulting in an abrupt end. You can increase the Capture Duration to ensure it captures the full range of motion. To do this, select the layer you want to animate, go to Window > Motion Sketch to open the Motion Sketch panel, and adjust the Capture Duration to a longer duration that covers the entire motion you want to capture.
2.Adjust the Sensitivity: The Sensitivity setting determines how sensitive After Effects is to the motion you're capturing. If it's set too low, it may not accurately capture the full range of motion. Try increasing the Sensitivity to make it more responsive to your movements. You can adjust this setting in the Motion Sketch panel.
3.Check for conflicting keyframes: Make sure there are no keyframes or other animation properties on the layer you're trying to capture motion for. Conflicting keyframes can interfere with the Motion Sketch process. If necessary, remove any existing keyframes or animation properties before using Motion Sketch.
4.Update After Effects: Ensure that you have the latest version of After Effects installed. Software updates often include bug fixes and improvements, which may address issues with the Motion Sketch feature.
5.Reset preferences: If the problem persists, you can try resetting the preferences in After Effects. To do this, close After Effects, then hold down the Shift + Alt (Windows) or Shift + Option (Mac) keys while launching After Effects. A dialog box will appear asking if you want to delete the preferences file. Confirm and let After Effects launch with default preferences. Note that this will reset all preferences, so make sure to back up any custom settings or presets you may have.

Hi
Thanks for replying. I did, but the problem persists.
I intend to increase the duration of the motion sketch but the farthest that it can stretch to it is 0:00:00:16. I tried increasing the duration and even changing the timeline to show seconds instead of frames. But even that isn't happening. I changed the project settings to Timecode, but it doesn't show the S that I want to see.
So, I have run into two problems: Increasing the duration of the motion sketch and wanting the S instead of the F.

Hey everyone!
Thanks for taking out the time to help.
I kept messing around with the interface and got the solution: Increase the second count from the Composition settings and with this increased duration the motion sketch has a larger area to function. And when the duration is increased the timeline appears in seconds(S).
