my after effects does not create an .aep file

My After Effects doesn't create an .aep file and since it doesn't create it, I can't save my projects

and says "Unable to recover the location of the user's Documents folder using a temporary folder''

Without any system information and other details this is not going anywhere. You need to nbe much more specific. the obvious answer is of course to first try and save to a different location, ideally outside the pre-defined system and document folders.

Please share the following details:

1. What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)?

2. What's the version of After Effects you're using?

If Mylenium's suggestion doesn't help, try running After Effects in Safe Mode and see if that brings any change.
