My background is still and my subject is moving, is there a way to mask the background to remove it since it is standing still. You know, instead of doing that brushing method??
I have the newest CC version of AE on windows 10.

Hi
You posted in the Lounge which is for non-technical discussion. I have moved your post to the After Effects forum where you are more likely to get help with your question.

If you have a shot without the person from the same perspective, you can always try a difference matte/ difference key. Otherwise you have to rotoscope manually with whatever method you deem best.

I think Mylenium has probably hit this but what you are describing seems to have little to do with the background at all. If I'm understanding you correctly, all you are really asking is how to remove the moving person from the background? The background being still offers no advantage as the person is moving against it.
Naturally, that means a roto of some sort. Do you have the clip? Curious how complex it is.

You can take any empty plate and use the color differences to pull a key of the person moving around in the shot as Mylenium mentions. However, that requires a much higher color fidelity than most cameras create. If the files are compressed (like from a DSLR and most prosumer camcorders), it's likely not going to work well.
