New Composition From Footage - Tutorial step 3

Step 3 in the first tutorial in learning After Effects and already stuck.  On the Import media video at https://www.adobe.com/learn/after-effects/web/getting-started-after-effects?learnIn=1, the presenter has icons for New Composition and New Composition From Footage.  I don't.  The panel is just blank.  The Composition menu has 'New Composition'.... but no 'New Composition From Footage.'  File>New doesn't have it.  So how do we create a new composition from footage?

This is going to be a long, painful journey.

Hi there,

Welcome to the community! I understand that getting started with After Effects can be frustrating. The circled panel in the shared screenshot is the Properties panel. To find those buttons, you'll need to open the Composition panel. Go to the menu bar at the top and click Window > Composition: (none). You can also choose another default workspace by going to Window > Workspace. I hope this helps!

Thanks,

Ishan
