Your Camera is parented to the null, so wherever you "move" it the camera follows.

Maybe i phrased my question wrongly.

What i meant to say is that I want to zoom in to certain areas of my design but I can't because the camera doesn't follow the null even when it is parented

Since you parented the camera to the null, I presume you are using the NULL to do this zooming and so forth right?

Did you arrange your layers in 3D space ?

set the view to 2 views, move some layers back and forth in 3D space then move the the null layer position values

if this is not the case, please share a screenshot for the 3d top view
