Hi guys.
I have a little issue where I have a null object being animated, and another one linked to it, but would be ideal if I could unlink it and then relink it at some point in the timeline ?
Basicallly the main locator goes up in Y, then the other one linked follows of course, but I don't want the rotation to be affected by it, only position... so I can animate the rotation indipendently on the other one, if it make sense ?
Cheers

Just use multiple copies of the null the linked layers and cut between them. I'd have to see a screenshot of your comp showing the modified properties of the layers involved to give you more detail. If you just want to follow the position it is very easy to do with expressions.

Hi there, thanks for the reply.
Yes screen shot here below
As you can see on first screen shot, the skateboard goes up and shoes too, which is fine, all null objects are linked.
Second screen shot, the board rotates so everything else, I would like for the shoes ( and nulls ) not to rotate but only move up and down

I still don't see the timeline with the modified properties of the layers. Don't know which nulls control the shoes, how the shoes are created, but I assume that they are 3D objects in a 3rd party effect like element or that you are using C4D.
I also don't know how the skateboard is animated. It makes a difference.
If this were my project I would have done all the animation of the skateboard and the shoes in the 3D app. If you want to tie the movement of the shoes to the movement of the skateboard I would just use position and not parenting. Any suggestions I would make are going to be guesses unless I know exactly how you created this comp and animation. The easiest solution based on what I see is to split the layers with the shoes where you want them to leave the skateboard while it flips and just animates their position. If they need to go back to the skateboard then you'll need to also split the skateboard layer and link them back to the motion of the board.

I'm using element 3D, and the nulls are linked to each object in groups of element, the shoes nulls are parents of the null of the skateboard
