PR 2025: Ver 25.0.0 (build 51)

AE 2025: Ver 25.0.1 (build 2)

Machine:  Mac Studio 2023

                  Apple M2 Max chip

                  96 GB Ram

                  MACOS Sonoma 14.6.1

I am using an MXF file (via Canon camera) to create two separate video projects within Premier Pro.  For each of these projects I want to mask a portion of the video and then insert a png backround.  While I was successsful in premier, I wanted a better look and feel by replaceing the work within PR to a linked AE Comp.

My first video attemp was successful where I separated the foreground from the background into layers with the png in the middle.  Ta Da--not bad for a newbe.

My second video (again same MXF file but different time stamps) attemp; well not so much.  I can link it to an AE Comp, but I looks back to my first one and does not treat it as the independent clip that it is.

Is there possibly a step I am missing?  Or, is this standard behavior and I need to accomplish differently; maybe by exporting the clip from PR, then opening in AE doing the work, exporting from AE, then bringing back in to PR?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
