After downloading the newest version I have a problem opening .psd files and .jpeg files. In Bridge preferences everything is ok. But when I dubbelclick on a jpg or psd file, it automaticly opens in After Effects. Stranger is, that these files are added to my Aftereffects composition when I have an After Effect project opened.
What to do now when the preferences are good.
I have the same issue and I unintentionally open AE all the time, too.
There are other threads around here to the same issue. One of staff-team wrote, that they know about the bug.
AE 16 Update Messing with Bridge
Deactivate AE in bridge until they fixed it:
1- from bridge preference >> startup scripts I disabled After Effects script
2- Restart bridge
Of course Adobe support tells you, that it's your computer ... *rolling eyes*

This is a known bug - dev team is on it already.
As workaround, you can deactivate AE in bridge, or simply right click the file > open with...

Thanks for the answer. I am glad you told me it is a bug. I open it with open with, but a lot of work because somtimes I forget, push on Enter and then After Effects opens everytime and have to close it again. I already chatted with Adobe about it, but they told me it is not a bug. It is my computer.

Hi marjannetje,
We're sorry for the issue faced. Please update your After Effects to the latest version 16.1 and then relaunch Bridge. That should fix the issue.
Let us know if it helps.
Thanks,
Shivangi
