Impossible to know. you have not offered any info about your computer, your preview settings, your composition, your footage. from the usual "not understanding how previews work" (no offense) to technical glitches this could be anything.

Presumably you have set your RAM Preview option to "play around current time"

Surely you have a huge composition and little RAM. However, as Mylenium says, you must give us more information in order to better focus on the situation and try to give you a solution.
