Is there a 3rd party plug in for a good rotoscope tool for AE?

BorisFX's Silhouette and mochaPro (two different products) are blockbuster-class roto tools.

Thanks, Roland

I downloaded a trail verson of Mocha Pro Adobe but it keeps crashing AE when I try to use it. I have Windows machine, i9 CPU with 32GB RAM and a Nvidea GeForce 2080 Super GPU, which I thought would be enough to run Mocha Pro. I can upgrade my RAM to 64GB but what you do suggest for a  GPU upgrade?

Thanks.

I don't see the value of Mocha Pro bcause there is no tracking automation. I still have track each keyframe, frame by frame. Silouette is too pricey for me and I'm not sure if it can track any better than manually doing frame by frame. Nuke is the only too that can rotoscope but I can't afford it.

This statement is odd as Silhoutete is commonly used by feature film studios use in their roto departments (Digital Domain, Method, ILM, Weta and many more). Mocha Pro is also widely used to save time for roto. Both use Mocha's planar tracking to drive shapes over time and both have tools such as edge snapping to assist with the roto process. Mocha also has PowerMesh to roto warping shapes over time. You can find many videos about roto scoping with Mocha here: https://borisfx.com/videos/?tags=&search=rotoscoping

Mocha AE is very useful for Rotoscope work. Depending on a few masks on a solid used as a track matte may do the trick in very little time. The most efficient workflow should always be determined by the shot.

I use various versions of this workflow all the time.

I also use Mocha AE, a stabilized corner pin workflow, and a combination of procedural mattes and roto work all the time. About 80% of my AE work involves some kind of visual effect that requires creating mattes and masks so Roto and procedural mattes are part of my workday almost every day.

Thanks! Unfortunatly, Mocha AE is not able to create and animate masks. I'm not sure if AE is capable of rotoscoping.

Mocha is fully capable of creating masks and it even has a Roto workspace. I use it a little more than half the time I need to create masks.

I don't see any matt / mask export controls in Mocha AE plus the X-Spline easily breaks apart while adjusting. Mocha doesn't have a reliable process. Very shakey program. Not sure why it is even bundled with AE.

I also tried the trail version of Mocha Pro - a total distaster. After exitng Mocha, it froze AE so I had to shut down my computer to escape. The same happened on the following try. I'm using a Windows 10 machine which appearently Mocha is not well suited for. I may revisit it when it matures as a product for Windows OS. In the meantime, I using Blender for rotoscoping. It seems to work well.

Thanks.

AE is really a motion graphics tool and it's really not designed for rotoscoping.
