Hello Community,
I have a problem: some default effects are simply not showing in AE.
I reinstalled AE and checked the folders. The effects are in the folders but do not appear in the program.
I am not talking about third party plug ins, but on Adobe ones like matte-choker.
Is there a way to manually import or refresh or enable those effects?

Without any system info and other details such as what version of AE, whether it's a fresh install or an update from a previous version and so on nobody can tell you much. This has been known to happen when updates fail and duplicate plug-ins remain, which AE disables for safety, but otherwise there should be no reason for them to not show up.

Hi, thanks for the answer.
Yes I had problems with an update due to memory space. I freed some space and after the update finished, the matte choker and other effects weren't there. Recognizing this, I deinstalled and reinstalled After Effects. Still not there.
I am talking about the newest version of CC (17.6). When deinstalling I did not delete the presets - might this be the problem?
By the way I am using Windows, if any other system informations are needed, please ask 🙂

What effects?

Most importantly matte choker is missing. When searching for some Effects which might be able to do the job, like some edge effects, i couldnt find them either.

If you don't see this:
Hold down Shift + Alt/Option + Ctrl/Cmnd the next time you start AE and trash your preferences. You can also to the Preferences in AE, browse to the folder and rename your current preferences then restart AE. If that does not work then use the Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems.

thank you, I allready did and it didn't help.
Is it maybe because I did not delete the presets, when asked?

I do not find the preferences in the folders, what are they named?
Also reinstalling, with the deleting presets box checked, did not work.
