Poor performance after update

I am experiencing extreme slow downs since the 2022 update. Files that loaded in 15 seconds now take over 1 minute. Trying to scrub through the timeline is nearly impossible now. I can't even get simple (I mean crazy simple, 1 layer position change) animations to play at 1/4 resolution.

To quote from an English New Year's eve sketch that is popular here in Germany: "Same procedure as every year, James!" Most likely it simply comes down to yet another round of fiddling with your graphics driver, checking your hardware acceleration settings, cache settings and taking the time to optimize your configuration. There's really not much more to say than that, frustrating and annoying as it may be having to go through this with every new release. Start by switching to software-only rendering and see if it makes a difference, then take it from there and figure out what actually the problem could be.

Poor performance is to be expected with a new and improved prodcut. Got it.

Nobody is saying that poor performance is expected, but with stuff changing with every release it is simply important to take the time and configure things properly. As I said, everybody knows it's annoying, but we are long past a point where one can assume that what worked for the last release automaticalyl works for a current release. That and AE simply hasn't been great with this acceleration stuff from the getgo and is hyper-sensitive to even the slightest problem. so by all means, give it a whirl and try if updating your graphics driver and checking your settings makes any difference.

I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling it. That does not sound normal to me. If it continues after a reinstall and simple tweaks as Mylenium suggests aren't improving things, I'd contact Adobe support.

I have actually been waiting all month for them to call me back about another issue. If they call back I guess I will mention this then.
