Position changes whenever I duplicate a video clip

Guest

Hi,

I have a video clip that when I duplicate it or copy and paste it another video clip that's visible moves positions by a few INCHES! It is extremely frustrating considering it took me a long time to align that segment perfectly. Please, if you have a solution, I am in desperate need of it. Thank you.

Is your clip parented to something, or are there any expressions on the Position property? One example, but a seemingly unlikely one, is that your clip's position is referencing a layer index, and adding another layer changes something in the expression. If this was happening you would probably know because it would have been an intentional setup; that or perhaps you're using a template that has something like or a parenting setup going on?

Your problem makes no sense. Duplicate a layer and nothing changes on the layer. Copy and paste a layer in the timeline and again nothing changes. Select a bunch of keyframes and copy and paste and the new keyframes will start at the current time indicator.

This has to be user error, or you are not looking at the Active Camera view, or there is something else going on in the composition.

We need a detailed workflow description and screenshots that show the modified properties of the layers that are giving you problems. Select the layers, press uu, PrintScreen and then paste (Ctrl/Cmnd + v) to the forum and tell us exactly what your workflow is and maybe we can help.

Hey I actually found the problem! It was the expression I had on the position of the video clip. Thank you for the help.
