Hello, I just got AE today but can’t use it at all because preview does not work. I don’t have this issue with Premiere.

Here is what I have :

Screenshot AE.png
When I press the space button, nothing happens excepts that the points around the preview screen disappear.  I can move the the blue vertical line along the timeline but it just does not show anything. Also when I quit AE, AE stops answering and I must force the program to shut.

Here are the characteristics of my computer  (honestly I don’t really understand what these things are, please tell me if you need more details) :

Intel(R) Core(™) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz

RAM memory : 8.00Go

Type of system : 64 bits, processor x64

Graphic cards are :

  • Inter(R) HD Graphics 520
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M

I’ve already tried a lot of things :

  • purging memory and cache disk
  • cleaning cache
  • using adobe cleaner tool
  • cap locks is not switched on
  • I’ve tried re-installing it
  • Switching audio hardware parameters from MME to ASIO (but I cannot choose ASIO on my computer)
  • renaming the adobe after effect file with a .old at the end

Please tell me if you need any more detail

Thank you very much for your help

Hi Mathiilde,

Thanks for the detailed post and sorry for your issue. I really appreciate you tried troubleshooting it by yourself. Here's what you could try next:

  • Make sure your GPU drivers are updated.
  • Try changing the video renderer to Mercury Software Only (go to File > Project Settings).

Also, is it happening in a particular project or any project that you try to work with?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nishu
