Hello to all.
I recently bought a videohive template in order to make an ad and I have the following problem:
I want to import a 45s video in a 9s composition with text layers and effects. The structure is as following:
[Scene.X]
[Text.X]
[text comp 1]
[text comp 2]
[text comp 3]
text_layer_1
text_layer_2
[Media.X]
video
solid layer
where the brackets represent comps and X the number of the different comps. So, I change all the compositions' duration to 45s and import the video. I also lengthen the duration of the effects layers and all the text comps -everything matches the length of the video. The video previews fine when in [Media.X] comp, where there is only a solid layer -the full 45s.
When I preview the [Scene.X] comp, only the [Text.X] comp previews for the full 45s and not the [Media.X] comp, which I find very frustrating. I have tried purging the cache, adding other videos in the [Media.X] comp, moving the video to start at a later point in the [Media.X] comp (which results in previewing a shorter duration of the clip)... What I can't understand is why the text comps preview but not the media comp! Either I've made the same mistake in both of them, in which case there should be the same behaviour (meaning that the preview should last the same 9s for the both of them) or I'm missing something.
Thank you in advance.

What do you mean by they're not previewing? Are those comps extended to 45s and just playing black? Can you post some screenshots of the working and problem comps?

Thank you for the quick response.
I mean that in the preview window of the [Scene.X] comp (in the picture below, I am showing the preview window for the all composition, however it's the same for the scene comp), it renders only the [text] comp with its effects and not the [media] comp, which renders only for the 9s.
At this point, the preview of Scene.11 starts. If you can see, top left, the Text.11 comp (with the "2") starts to appear.
7s (not 9s) in, the full scene has appeared:
and then this
the video disappears. I did some more searching in the layers and found that there is an effect with scripting, in the media comp, but no keyframes:
If I press "Enable Expression" in the last line (Opacity) and disable the equal sign, then the video shows, but the transition effects from the previous scene to this one, disappear.
I have already contacted the creator, however, if you have any suggestions, I'd be very happy to hear them out.
Thank you.

If disabling the expression brings the video back, then sounds like the expression has a hard-coded end time entry. Contacting the creator would be your best bet or post the expression.

Hi! It doesn't appear, on the surface of it, that the expression is hard-coded time - at least in itself. It looks more like your Opacity is being cranked to 0 by a layer called 'Color Correction Options' in the comp 'Main.' There are so many moving parts it's a bit hard to tear apart with this level of info regarding comps, layers, and intended look.
Did you un-shy all layers and extend those as well?
Not sure how experienced you are in AE but I'd be aware that buying a template doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be easy. I've found templates that are fantastic and very customizable and others that are M.C. Escher paintings.

I figured that I didn't want to do something more complicated than extending the time of one or two scenes. The creator just contacted me. I'll keep you posted.
And thank you very much for the time you took to respond to me.
Have a nice week!
