does it work good when adjustment layer is under the spectrum?
how does the mask edge look now (under the adj. layer) if you select it?

Magic Bullet looks is one of those effects that will ignore the mask that Audio Spectrum is applying. You have two choices. The first is to pre-compose your Audio Spectrum layer. The second is to put the mask on a solid above the Audio Spectrum layer and use the layer above as a track matte for Audio Spectrum.

I guess there is a third option. Copy the Looks effect you have on the adjustment layer, move the adjustment layer below the Audio Spectrum layer, then paste the Looks effect to the Audio Spectrum layer.

There's no bug, just a little lack of understanding of how Looks and Audio Spectrum interact with each other. Looks is not the only Effect that will have this behavior.
