PS files not updating in AE

Explorer ,
May 23, 2017 May 23, 2017

PS CC 2017 1.1
AE CC 14.2

Tried:
Project>reload
Comp>layer>ctrl+E>edit file in ps>save>return to AE, no update
Try above two methods again, no update
Closed PS, AE and reopened numerous times, no change.

If you added layers to the Photoshop file, AE will not see them.  You would have to re-import.

Once imported into AE you can't add layers, whether it's a Photoshop or Illustrator file.

That's correct to a point, however existing layers should update, and they are not.

YES! I'm having the same problem. Here's what's happened:

  1. 27 layer PSD file imported into AE
  2. Dozens of timing adjustments made to determine what will appear when by shortening layer in timeline.
  3. Decision to tweak font style in PSD. Change reflected in AE as expected.
  4. Decision to rotate headline in PSD. Change reflected in AE as expected.
  5. Position change in PSD, no layer change in AE, Fail. FAIL. FAIL!

Ok, so sometimes the 'reload footage' option was not available (greyed out), and using ctl+E>open in PS>save PS file, was not updating either. I"m importing the .psd files as comp/retain layer size or comp/comp, sequential import unchecked.
It's annoying enough, that AE won't see new layers. I wish there was better integration.

The only time consuming work around I've found is to re-import file and replace layers while deleting any duplicates....
