Hi forum.
Is it common task for animaters to export SVG files from After effects as a .SVG file extension? If I design a vector logo in AI, then import it into AE, can it be exported as SVG? is there any downside to this method? I know it's usually animated PNG files exported from AE, and handed over to programmers/developers.
Thank you.
After Effects is a pixel-based app that can export SVG in certain situations; it would not be the tool of choice for professional work. You can kind of get by sometimes if you follow all the rules. The Adobe tool of choice for web animations would be Adobe Animate.

That makes absolutely no sense. Aside from the atrocious hack that is Bodymovin' and its limitations there is no way to export vector data for web from AE. As Rick already said, Animate is more adequate and even some simple online-based SVG/ canvas generator tools are more reliable and flexible than using AE.
