Hey guys & gals:

A small bug with an easy work around for now via Windows 10 1809+ with the following error. "After Effects error: Could not convert Unicode characters. (x::x)"

If all was working and then the error appeared, double check your settings under Control Panel ---> Clock & Region ---> Administrative --> Change System Locale --> Uncheck "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for Worldwide Language Support as seen below.  After unchecked, Reboot.  All done.  Happy FXing.

NOTE*  Read below for DIY with UNICODE REF:  Or wait for the full stable release via Windows.

Supporting UNICODE Mapping for Windows | Mac | Adobe -  REF material can be found at:

http://www.unicode.org/

https://www.czyborra.com/utf/

http://www.icu-project.org/docs/papers/forms_of_unicode/

Which then can help provide entries for your locale and or language of choice.

As you can see the highlighted entries can be defined with the above mentioned as reference.  An additional Master file with mapping can also be made for full support.

It is a hand full, but know that the easy way to fix is just disable UTF-8 UNICODE support BETA by Microsoft for now until Final Stable version is released.
