"Disable Refresh" menu option?

Community Beginner ,

Hi all,

My MacBook Pro has the dreaded butterfly keyboard problem. My caps lock key has stopped working. I'd like to "disable refresh" in AE on some heavy comps while I work but I can't seem to find it as a menu option, and caps lock doesn't work.

How can I toggle "disable refresh" in the comp window without the caps lock key? Is it under a menu and I'm just missing it?

activate show keyboard in menu bar from keyboard settings than open the keyboard from the menu bar, and click the caps with your mouse

I doubt there is a way. Check to see if your keyboard has been set to a non-English keyboard. Otherwise, you'll have to look at working with only a few layers enabled/eyeballed, most of the time.

Check the keyboard shortcuts - not sure, but maybe you can remap the function to another key.

You can also get yourself a cheap usb-keyboard to plugin - if the MacBook has USB ports left.

Thank you, this is a good workaround. It's a little clunky but it does the job.

It just seems silly that the ONLY way to toggle this option is with the caps lock key and that there's nothing under, say, the View or Composition menus.
