Hey, everyone!
I'm used to work with Arri Alexa footage in AE, but recently was asked to do some vfx (keying, compositing) with Scarlet Dragon footage. I'm a bit confused as to how to bring the footage in AE, and output it for grading keeping the colors and bit depth accurate.
Its been discussed in many topics but since the introduction of IPP2, it seems the process has changed.
I would do it this way:
- bring the cut in REDCine-X as an XML
- render out the vfx shot as ProRes 444
- bring in AE/?
My question is what color space do I choose? Ungraded Log3G10? Or IPP2 Output transform with rec.709 as color space and REDLogFilm gamma curve?
Also how do I interpret this footage in AE and render in a generic Log format?
LUTs would only work for viewing not actual compositing, right?
Thanks! Any contribution is highly appreciated!
