Can you open the file by Premiere Pro?

I recommend you do the clean uninstall if your After Effects is unstable. You try to uninstall After Effects via menu of Adobe Creative Cloud application. When you open Adobe Creative Cloud, you find the gear mark next to After Effects and then choose Uninstall menu. You reboot your system.

Just in case, I recommend you also run AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe. You can download it here.
