Hey smart people,
I'm trying to convert some .rw2 raw image sequences in After Effects to ProRes 4444 .mov video files to be keyed, edited, and graded in Davinci Resolve while preserving as much information and color as possible (as Davinci doesn't read .rw2 which is such a shame). It should be a rather simple workflow, and I had done it countless times before, until recently, the rendered out .mov color totally doesn't match the original raw image, and doesn't even match the preview in After Effects! I'm not sure if it's me somehow changed the settings somewhere accidentally. But I tried to do it in a brand new project and tried starting the app in safe mode, yet to the same faulty color result.
After Effects ver. 24.5
MacOS Sonoma Version 14.5
Apple M1 Max chip
32GB memory
The image sequence info and project color settings are as below -
Output settings -
I've also tried all sorts of combinations of different project color space settings and different output settings, and 99% of the time I get the color on the right below, 1% to something even worse.
And below is comparison of preview in AE (which matches the original raw image color) and render -
As you can see, it's not the "washed-out" color problem that many people have encountered that has something to do with Apple or QuickTime, but the difference is rather drastic that I feel like it has to be a color space issue.
Please help!!! Thank you!!! And let me know if I need to provide any other info to crack this issue.
Best,
Quincy
