Replace missing layered .psd link

How do I go about replacing a missing link when the link is a layered psd? (or 'psb' in this case)

I can replace a file without any problems normally, but in this instance I originally imported a layered psd and animated each individual layer:

I then moved the location of the psd and am struggling to re-link it. The only way I can figure it out is to replace each layer individually?

Not an issue at all. AE will recognize the new location once you've selected the first layer manually and automatically re-link all layers after that. It's one of the few genuinely smart functions in Ae that has existed since forever.

I still can't seem to get it to work unfortunately!

Am I re-linking it correctly? I'm choosing 'replace footage' and then selecting layers from my psd to import... but it won't look for the rest, seems like I need to import each of the 'particle' layers individually

In theory this should work without issues as long as you haven't changed anything in the PSD itself. the identical naming could be an issue, but AE should just comb through the file and associate each layer based on the order, regardless even if it may be wrong. But who knows, maybe it's somehow botched in current releases.

I imagine it is botched... seems to be the way with Adobe these days!
