Hi,
so it's been awhile since i asked a q in here. Yesterday I dragged out a shape layer in the upper left of my comp (using shft to constrain it) and for some reason when I released the mouse its anchor point snapped to shapes center. Usually shapes are created with anchor points at the comp center and need to be manually centered, or at least that had been my experience.
I tried many times to repeat this behavior thinking maybe i clumsily hit some other keyboard key or keys that caused this to happen but i couldn't make it happen again.
My Question: How may this have occurred? Is there some combination of keys that can be held down that will cause the anchor point of shapes to be auto cnetered?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Gutterfish, maybe your After Effects needs maintenance because I try to replicate what you say and I notice it the same as always. Moving the position of the Shape Layer moves from the center of the composition and moving the position of the Path moves the Path. If I reset the position of the Path it goes to the center of the composition. Even pressing Shift the same thing happens. Remember that the Path has its own transformation properties and those of the Shape Layer are different because in a Shape Layer you can insert several Paths, so you must select the one you need to adjust.

Thanks Byron. Not sure how it happened but I wish it would keep happening 🙂

To snap the anchor point to the center of a shape layer or any layer I usually press the ( cmd ) button and double click the anchor point tool

Thanks. Yes I usually use CTRL ALT HOME to center the anchor point. Not sure why what happened, happened. If it was a bug it was a great one that I wish would keep happening. 🙂
