Does any else experience renders being much slower in Media Encoder over AE render queue?
Sometimes the media encoder renders will take 10 times longer. I have a 4 core processor with 8 threads. after effects will only use no more than 25% of my CPU while media encoder can use up to 100% of my CPU, but still render much slower.
Render Garden works great thanks!

Start by turning off hardware-accelerated encoding.

When comparing the After Effect Render Queue to Adobe Media Encoder, are you using the same settings?
For example, Best Settings Lossless from the After Effects Render Queue should export faster than H264 Match Source - High Bitrate from Adobe Media Encoder.

Yes, I'm using go-pro cineform with same settings on both renders.

Shameless plug... check out the RenderGarden script we made. Will render AE 2-3x faster on the same multi-core computer and you can easilly set up a little farm to render on multiple.

Hmmm... maybe try rebooting? Are you using 3rd party plug-ins? If you still have problems please submit a support ticket here (click the help icon on lower right of page): RenderGarden Support | by Mekajiki

AE and AME render at about the same speed running Mojave on a 6-Core trash can with 128 GB of ram. (Exporting 900 frames APR 422 1920x1080). AE used to be significantly faster, that feels like a recent change to AME. I've always used AE Script's BG Renderer pro to speed up rendering. It goes 2-3 times as fast, but you then need to manually convert the intermediary PNG sequences to whatever the final format needs to be. Looks like Render Garden automates that for you Matt Silverman ? Curious how it compares to BG Renderer speed-wise... Assuming it's the same since both are terminal based?

Render Garden is amazing. I never wait around for renders and keep using AE without any slowdown while it is churning out comps.

Yes I have noticed this. I have been searching the net trying to find an answer.
I have both CS5 and the latest CC installed and when it comes to AE and involves a camera with DOF, CS5 is many many times quicker at rendering then CC media encoder. Using the latest CC to render a H.264 complex comp with DOF I am now getting 2+ hour renders for 20sec projects that take CS5 30mins to render. I have monitored GPU and CPU stats and for comps that have camera DOF, the GPU for CC is at 100%, CPU at 15%. CS5 the GPU and CPU were both at 90+%. I use AE CS5 for renders that involve a camera. If you don't believe me try it yourself! CS5 is is way faster then CC. I think this may have something to do with quick sync (should you be using intel) but what was CS5 doing that made it quicker and why did adobe get rid of it? I just installed CS5 on my new Threadripper 1950x and man it eats up AE renders that have DOF. What the hell adobe get with it. If it wasn't for the new features of AE CC I would not use it.
