spacebar preview issue

whenever i press spacebar it reguarlly allows me to preview instantly but just today when pressing spacebar it takes more than a few seconds to preview then when i press preview again its the same thing. does anyone know how to fix this? i resetted my preview settings to default and it's still doing this.
