Text Tool Doesn't Work In After Effects.

Hey. For some reason, I'm not able to type any text inside of after effects. Whenever I select the text tool I'm not able to see the typing cursor within after effects and I'm not able to type any characters in my composition. I have the text set to white over a black background and I believe I have all of the character metrics right. I'm thinking I might just need to reset or uninstall/install after effects to get this to work. Thoughts?

Your horizontal character scale is set to zero percent, which will of course effectively eleiminate all visible pixels.
