Hi,
I seem to have an issue with After Effects 2019 and not being able to render a video as an overlay. It's just a simple title animation which I need to put over another video.
Bullet pointed Facts:
- I've been searching for almost 2 hours online and can't find any solutions.
- I've changed the typical 'lossless' settings to QuickTime with animation, RGB + Alpha but it's still showing a black background
- I've enabled the transparency background on the AE composition which shows it can be played without a background needed
- There is no background Jpeg file on the timeline or in the library
- I'd prefer exporting in .avi but haven't found the solution to export it as a transparent background yet
- All help appreciated I'll try to answer swiftly to any comments/questions

Do you use Add to Render Queue or Add to AME queue for rendering. If you use AMe - try to render in AE.
You can also try to use different codec f. eg. ProRes, Cineform, DNxHD.

Where are you playing the video back to check transparency? Media players like VLC, QuickTIme, etc. don't show transparency. I'll bet if you re-import your QuickTime file with the Animation codec you made back into AE, it'll be transparent.

Also, please confirm that you are truly trying to output a transparent file. By clicking on the transparency grid button (checkerboard) to see if the composition panel shows the gray and white checkerboard and not a solid.

When you render the movie, do it by going to Com-osition > Add to Render Queue. Then, in the Output Module section, choose RGB+Alpha and Millions of Colours +.
If if you can’t select these options I.ts because you are trying to render using a format where Alpha’s are not supported. You need to use a format that supports Alpha Channels.
