Trapcode Particular and its Emitter mode set to Layer causing problem when I rotate this layer

Contributor ,

Hello I have a problem using Trapcode Particular in Layer emitter mode, please see the image, as this mode needs 3D layer emits from I would expected when I rotate this layer all particles simply stick on the surface they are emitting from but they dont, they start slide over... I might missing something or I might not understand it correctly. Any ideas?

Trapcode Particular is  a Maxon product now. It would be better to contact Maxon support team.

Trapcode Particular, must be applied to a 2D layer. It's the same with all 3D effects. You should see a warning if you make the layer 3D. Like Trapcode Lux, Video Copilot's Elelment 3D, or Cineware for adding Cinema 4D files to the timeline, the effect must be applied to 2D layers. The After Effects 3D camera will only properly interact with the 3D objects generated by effects that generate 3D objects if the layer is 2D.

It looks like you have not chosen a layer in the Emitter>Layer Emitter section. You have to spin down the options and pick a 3D layer name, then decide whether you want to use the layer's Masks or Effects and Mask, what you want to do with the layer's RGB properties, and whether you want the layer's properties to influence the particles from the Current Frame or the Particle Birth Time.

I suggest you go to the Maxon site, study a few tutorials, or read the user guide.

Your cropped screenshot does not show us anything about the workflow, and I'm not sure what you are trying to make the particles do. The layer you are using as an emitter should not be turned on. If it is, you should be able to see the layer. If you choose to use the emitter layer's masks or masks and effects, a new locked light layer should also be added to your comp.

If you give us a better description of your design goals or post a screenshot showing the modified properties of the layer in the timeline, we can probably point you in the right direction.

i am sorry  I have been not clear enough, I have known about need of 2D layer to Particulars being apply to... That is fundamental thing, but my problem is more technical... there in last version of Trapcode Particular or at least few last version there are several types of Emitter... Few of them are Text/Mask, Layer... I have got a problem with type called Layer... this Layer needs to be 3D so I would guess I can manipulate with this and particles will adopt the new position of that layer, but the do not... It might be a bug.
