Before purchasing, I wanted to do some of the free trials that are offered. I opened the installer, signed into my account, and began installing but it has been at 0% for over 30 minutes and still says "calculating time remaining". I am not sure what the issue could be...can someone help me?

We can't know. Sorry, but throwing around generics like "I'm using a Mac." is of no use to anyone. Exact technical info is required such as what Mac, what version of OSX and how you even connect to the Internet.
Have you connected Internet by Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable? Wi-Fi is not fast enough. The downloading time is long. Time-out might happen. You try a cable connection.
