Hi there,

When i use the standard effect "Blinking Cursor Typewriter Console", it won't blink the cursor when i press enter for a new tekstline.

Is there a solution for it? Or do i have to aniamate each line for it's own?

thnx!

Off hand I'm not even sure what preset you actually mean, but yes, it likely is a limitation of the preset and the underlying expression. If you provide a screenshot with the properties revealed we may be able to help you with modifying it.

I can confirm and elaborate on the issue.
There's a new text animation preset which is available since version 2023 (as far as I know).

It's called "Blinking cursor typewriter console". Like a Typewriter preset but with a cursor.
This cursor should blink but it does only in the first paragraph of the text. If one makes more paragraph (divides the text by pressing enter) the cursor stops blinking on the second paragraph.

One workaround I found was converting text frop plain to paragraph since I had only two lines.

Here's a screenshot with all the expressions in the layer

My fix for now:  made four (in my case) seperate lines of text 😛  (still tricky with some timing tough..)

I had the same problem and solved it by keeping all the lines of text in the same paragraph. To do this create a text area by clicking and dragging a text box in the composition before you start typing. This will then constrain anything you type to the boundaries off the box, meaning you can use multiple lines in the same paragraph, and the cursor blinks all the way to the end.

Hey. I found you have to make a textbox in order for the "blinking" effect to keep working, once you press ENTER to make a new line it messes it up and stops it from blinking. If you only have 1 line of text this works just fine so make a text box if you have multiple lines of text.

LATEST

Hi @Shawn Wagar,

What's the version of After Effects you're using? This issue has been fixed in the latest version (24.1) of After Effects.

Let us know if you're still seeing this in the new version.

Thanks,

Nishu
