Unable to acquire ascii

My after effects will not open anymore. I tried disabling plugins, i tried resetting preferences, i tried starting in safe mode, rebooting, reinstalling, but no luck.

I simply get the message at launch " after effects error, internal verificationf ailure, sorry! (unable to acquire ascii style name).

Hoping someone can please help., i just updated .

That's pretty much useless without any system info. That said it simply sounds like an operating system/ file system issue. Perhaps you renamed a drive/ volume or changed some setting.

How can I go forward with this, I can't even open after effects anymore?

I am aware this is a late response – my suspicion is that fonts are to blame (which do have an ASCII style name). Perhaps you remember which fonts were installed just prior to this error?
