Unable to open resource file

Somehow in my development efforts I did something that makes After Effects put up a message when it starts saying "Unable to open resource file SmartyPants.plugin 3::54".  I have been struggling with effects based on SmartyPants and even tried at one point to build an older version of SmartyPants.  I can just click OK and After Effects carries on, but since I am starting it over and over again during the day, I'd like to get rid of the message.  I have used Finder to remove every file on my computer with SmartyPants in its name and I have uninstalled and reinstalled After Effects.  I still get the message.

Does anyone know what is causing this message and how I can stop it?

I think cleaning and rebuilding could solve this. I've experienced it a few times, not sure what causes it though.

Thanks.

I  tried running Creative Cloud Cleaner and re-installing After Effects.  What else is involved in "rebuilding."

Product -> clean and then Product -> rebuild will ensure all the associated files (like the resource file) are rebuilt. Normal building doesn't recompile the PiPL.

I realized after my last post that you meant cleaning and rebuilding the product in Xcode.  Because of the problems I had with breakpoints, I got into the habit of always cleaning and rebuilding the product every time I wanted to test a plug-in or what it was doing.

I used the Finder to delete every file I could find associated with SmartyPants and I still got the message.

I removed and re-installed After Effects without migrating preferences and still get the message.

The weird thing is that after I re-installed the SDK and rebuilt SmartyPants, I still get the message when After Effects starts even though I also can apply the SmartyPants effect to a layer.
