Upgrading to Mojave has made After Effects unusably slow

So I wasn't thinking and installed Mojave last night. As I logged on to work today to test out the new OS, I realized that After Effects is not working properly with the upgrade. It runs slowly in general now, but what's really an issue is that I can't use the grid. When I turn the grid on the software freezes up. The loading ball pops up with every click and only goes off if I turn the grid off. I need the grid to space things out and so I need to either fix the issue or go back to sierra which would be pretty terrible given how difficult it is and that it erases all your information.

Has anyone had this issue? Anyone successfully troubleshooted After Effects with Mojave to make it work?

I was able to solve the issue by downgrading to the last version of After Effects (2018). I tried a fresh install of the newest version of After Effects (2019) multiple times, it just doesn't work.
