Using After Effects for Gaming Intros & Motion Graphics

New Here ,

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on some gaming-related projects and wanted to share my experience (and ask for advice). I create content around games, and After Effects has been my go-to tool for:

  • Designing YouTube/Twitch gaming intros

  • Adding HUD-style motion graphics to gameplay highlight reels

  • Creating animated overlays for live streams

  • Building cinematic title sequences inspired by in-game cutscenes

One challenge I’m facing is keeping render times manageable, especially when working with heavy particle effects or 3D compositions for fast-paced gaming edits.

Questions for the community:

  • What are your best practices for optimizing AE projects for gaming intros/highlights?

  • Any favorite plugins or scripts you use for a “gaming aesthetic” (glitch, neon, HUD, pixel-style effects)?

  • Do you usually finish the entire workflow in AE, or export to Premiere Pro for final assembly with gameplay footage?

Would love to hear how others in the community approach After Effects when working with gaming-related content!
