when i zoom in and out on my timeline it occasionally moves all of my layers and makes them appear off beat, if i zoom in and out again it moves back? confused

I don't have a suggestion per se about fixing this glitch. I think of it as a quirk in After Effects. I do feel that Premiere (if you have it) would be a better/less frustrating tool for the video which you're editing.

I've been playing around with BeatEdit recently and noticed that markers don't always line up with frames - not being particularly musical, my understanding is that timings can be different so my guess is that AE is trying to snap the clips to frames when you move around.
As @RobShultz suggests, AE is not the best for music editing. Chop up your video in PP, then use the "Replace with After Effects composition" option on each clip to add the effects you wish.

hello thank you for your reply!! im not editing the music, just editing the clips to the beat of the music. im using ae for motion graphics and keyframing.

mine did this with the beat markets on ae 25 and ae 24, did you ever fix it?
