When I export 3D model from Blender and import to Element 3D in AE, my model is flattened.

Does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions to get this 3D school mascot from Blender to Element 3D without flattening it? I exported as an Wavefront .obj file and imported it as a 3D sequence in Element 3D. Everything I can find says I should be good. None of the suggestions have worked so far. Anybody know how I can solve this? I'm very new to both of these 3D programs.

I am not sure if you like this solution or not. There is another paid plug-in called BlenderAE. This is directly connected to After Effects from Blender. It would be good to use the trial version initially.
