Animate Blending Modes/set them via expressions

Might be a pretty Niche feature request, but its been bugging me for a while, that Im not able to manipulate the blending mode via expressions or keyframes.

In my specific case, I work with data driven animation and Im changing the color of a layer based on certain conditions. My layer has to be either Red, Green, Blue or Silhouette Alpha.

My workaround for now is creating an extra layer above my main layer, that has its blending mode to Silhouette Alpha and matte it to that layer. Then I add an expression to that layers opacity, to make it turn on/off based on the conditions.

Apart from my usecase I think it could also add a lot of creative flexibility being able to animate between all the different blending modes.

Unfortunately, Blend modes cannot be keyframed. The only option I can see is to duplicate layers and then keyframe or use expressions to change opacity settings.

Except for hard cuts, i.e. hold keyframes there is no way to consistently transition across different blending modes because the input parameters differ. You'd end up with weird, unusable results a lot of times. It's the same like with color expressions where you get "mud" inbetween if you don't choose the correct way to blend from A to B. I really don't see how that would even work in a useful manner. Using duplicate layers or effects that have internal blending controls is way to go.

@Mylenium Yes thats what I assumed would happen if it would be implemented with normal keyframing. Thats why the feature could be locked to hold keyframes only. IMO it would still be a useful addition, the more properties you can manipulate over time, the better. Same with Track mattes, Set mattes etc... Everything that has a dropdown selection. I dont see a downside of adding it and it would bring more flexibility. I do agree that It would have to be limited to hold keyframes for all of these.
