3D Layers previews not rendering

New Here ,
Feb 24, 2020 Feb 24, 2020

Hi!

I'm working on a pretty complex AfterEffects file and I'm running into a problem where, everytime I switch 3d on for my layers, the preview stops loading/loads insanely slow (like, 1 second of the preview takes 1 minute to load). I have the resolution set to quarter and when 3d is off they load fine.

Any advice?

Thanks!

First guess - the comp render engine is set to C4D. Try setting it to Standard.

How do I do this? I went through all the settings in my AfterEffects and I couldn't see where this setting is... I don't have Cinema4D installed on my computer. I may have used the wrong word with 'render'– I'm no actually trying to export the video, I just want to play the preview within aftereffects, but it won't load.

Post a screenshot of your timeline. When you have a 3D layer in a timeline the rendering engine is reported in the top right corner of the Composition Panel. Only the Active Camera view will render, but you can preview any view. You should also check the preview settings in the comp panel.

When you take a screenshot please reveal the modified properties of at least one of the 3D layers by pressing the U key twice. It would also be good to have the comp selected in the Project Panel so we can see what your comp settings are.
